Oh Captain! My Captain! Comedian Gordon Southern delivers a crouch thrusting, accelerated history of history. He’s nine parts professor you wish you’d had and one part lecturer you probably did have. That’s good odds, and the glint in his eye says he knows it well.
Southern’s show was held in the cosy bosom of The Classic Studio, a space which is suitably low brow and matches his demonstration. With an opening motto like “Truth + Lies = Tries” we got pretty quickly that this lesson was the exception of any rules.
Lecture cross pub quiz, Southern skims like a rock over water through history’s bumps and bruises. Although he assumes his crowd has the basic understanding to keep up, he does dash in enough audio visuals to keep you entertained when you show your age, or I.Q. It wouldn’t hurt to Wiki in advance of the show.
